Getting started
Who is CorePaw Pro for?
Professional dog walkers, pet sitters, cat sitters and drop-in carers — from a sole trader with eight clients to a couple running a round together or a small team with employees. It is a business tool: your clients, your round, your reports and your invoices. It is not the app your customers use; they use CorePaw, free.
Does it work for pet sitters as well as dog walkers?
Yes. A job can be a route-tracked walk or a drop-in visit with no route at all, and the app uses the right word for it — a cat has a visit, not a walk. Sitters log feeding, litter, water, medication, photos and notes, and the owner gets the same written report a walk produces.
Can a solo walker use it?
Yes, and nothing about a team is in the way. With one walker the members screen says "just you" and the assignment picker on a booking does not render at all. Everything is scoped to your business from day one, so adding a partner later is a setting rather than a migration.
Can a team use it?
Yes. A business can have full-access partners and restricted employees. An employee sees only the jobs assigned to them and only the clients they have a booking for, and can be kept out of invoices and prices entirely. Those limits are enforced in the database, not hidden in the app.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 30 days with every feature switched on. Thirty days rather than the usual fourteen is deliberate: a walker's value lands twice, once on the first walk report and again at month end when the invoicing run saves an evening. A shorter trial ends before the second one arrives.
Is a card required to start?
No. No card, and nothing is crippled during the trial — a feature-limited version would tell you nothing about whether the app suits your round.
Is CorePaw Pro available on iOS and Android?
It is built for both — one app, released as its own iOS and Android listing. You can download it from the store links on this page.
Clients and pets
Is there a limit on clients or pets?
No. Unlimited clients, unlimited pets, unlimited bookings and unlimited walks on every plan. You pay by how many walkers your business has, never per client or per animal — capping the size of your client book to charge you more would be charging you for growing.
Can I manage dogs and cats?
Yes, and the app changes shape for each. A dog gets the walking questions — recall, off lead, sociability with other dogs. A cat gets the questions that actually matter for a drop-in, and is never asked whether she can be let off the lead.
Can owners who already use CorePaw connect their pet?
Yes. An owner shares a specific pet with your business from CorePaw, and once you are connected they can add a second pet to the same relationship without a new code. You can also create a pet record for an owner who has never heard of CorePaw; when they sign up later, that record and its walk history are already waiting for them.
What care information can I see about a pet?
Whatever the owner has granted, plus everything you record yourself. Handling notes — recall, off lead, sociability, nervousness — sit with the pet and are visible to any carer the owner has shared it with, because they are safety information. Health details such as allergies and medication are separate, and only appear if the owner has shared them.
Can an owner restrict what I see?
Yes, per pet and per area. A household with two dogs can share one and not the other, and can share feeding but not medication. Where something has not been shared, the app shows a locked card saying so — never an empty list. "Not shared" and "nothing to report" must never look the same, because an empty allergy list read as "no allergies" is the most dangerous thing a walking app could show you.
Which plan do I need, and what if I go over it?
Plans are bands, not a per-head meter: Solo covers one walker, Team covers up to four, Business covers up to ten — including you. Every plan has every feature and unlimited clients and pets. If you add a walker beyond your band nothing switches off and nobody stops working; the app tells you the billing needs putting right. Above ten walkers there is no plan yet, so talk to us rather than guessing.
What happens when a client relationship ends?
Your access to their private information ends with it: the pet profile, contact details, care notes and media all go. You keep your invoices, because they are tax records, and your own totals. The owner keeps every walk, route, photo and report forever in CorePaw — it is their pet's history. Your past invoices and bookings can still name the pet, so your own records do not go anonymous.
Walking and visits
Does GPS keep recording with the phone locked?
Yes. Recording continues with the screen off and the phone in your pocket, using background location. If the app is force-quit mid-walk it offers to resume when you reopen it, with nothing lost.
Can I pause a walk?
Yes. Pause when you stop for a chat or drive between two stops, and resume when you set off again. Paused time is not counted in the duration and the paused stretch is not counted in the distance — so a walker who paused and drove two miles does not hand the client a two-mile walk.
Can I walk several dogs together?
Yes. Pick the dogs at the start and one outing is recorded as one walk for each of them, sharing a group. Each owner gets their own report about their own dog, and each dog keeps its own record even though they walked the same route.
Can I record a home visit with no route?
Yes. A drop-in is a job in its own right: arrive, log the feed, the litter, the water, the medication, a photo and a note, finish. There is no route to record and nothing pretends there was one.
What happens when there is no signal?
The walk carries on. Everything you tap is written to your phone first and reported as done, because it is done — the queue empties itself when you come back into range. The one exception is invoicing, which needs a connection and says so, because invoice numbers are issued centrally and in order.
How accurate is the distance?
The route is filtered before it is measured. Fixes vaguer than about 30 metres are ignored, and any leg implying an impossible speed is treated as a GPS spike and skipped rather than added — a single bad fix in an urban canyon can otherwise add a kilometre to a walk that ends up on an invoice. Where the route is too sparse to judge, the walk says so rather than quoting a confident wrong number.
What is included in an owner report?
A written summary generated from the events you actually logged, plus the route map and the photos. Water breaks, toilet, treats, feeding, medication, behaviour, injury and sickness all appear where they were recorded and the owner permitted them. Absences are phrased as absences — "no health concerns were logged" rather than "no signs of illness" — because nobody examined the dog.
Is the report written by AI?
The wording is, from the facts you logged and nothing else. The model is given counts and timestamps, never a photo and never room to speculate; it may not diagnose, reassure or make any health judgement, and output that breaks those rules is discarded. If the model is unavailable the report still sends, written plainly from the same facts — a plainer report is far better than a missing one.
Can a failed report be resent?
Yes. Every report carries its delivery state — sent, failed, or no email address on file — and a resend button. That matters more than it sounds: a report that silently never sent is indistinguishable from one that arrived, and a walker should never find out from the client.
Does the owner know when the dog is collected and home?
Yes. Collection and return are each one tap, each timestamped, and each sends the owner a notification. It is the single most reassuring thing the app does, and the report that follows is not a substitute — it arrives after the worry it would have prevented.
Scheduling
Can bookings repeat?
Yes. Most of a round is "Bella, every Tuesday and Thursday", so recurring bookings are there from the start rather than bolted on. Day and week views show what is coming, and Today lists the round in the order you will do it.
Can clients request bookings?
Yes. An owner requests a job from CorePaw, you get a notification, and you can accept, decline, or propose a different time that bounces back for them to confirm. Either side can cancel.
Can I assign work to staff?
Yes. Any booking can be assigned to a member of your business, and a restricted employee sees only what is assigned to them. Every walk also records who actually did it, so the owner's report can name them and you can answer "who did Tuesday?" from your own data.
Can I charge cancellation fees?
Yes. You set a notice period and a fee. A cancellation inside the notice period records the fee against the booking and it appears as billable work on the next invoice alongside the walks — otherwise a cancellation policy is just words on a page. Both defaults are deliberately gentle, so nobody is surprised by a charge you never set.
Does it warn me about booking conflicts?
Yes, when you create a booking it shows what else is already out over that slot. They are warnings, never blocks — a walker who wants seven dogs out at once is not asking your software's permission.
Can I record a walk that was not scheduled?
Yes. Start one from the pet rather than the schedule and the work is still recorded and still billable — it is flagged as needing a price and waits on the unbilled screen until you set one. It is never quietly billed at zero and never quietly lost.
Communication
Can I message clients in the app?
Yes — one thread per client, with photos. It stays attached to the business rather than to whichever phone number answered, so taking on a partner does not mean forwarding two years of texts, and either of you can pick up a conversation and see it was answered.
Can I send one message to every client?
Yes. A broadcast — "snow tomorrow, no walks" — goes to all of them at once, and replies come back into each client's own thread.
Do owners have to pay for CorePaw?
No. Reports, photos, route maps, pickup and drop-off notifications, messaging you and requesting a booking are free for owners, permanently. Nothing your business depends on ever sits behind the owner's paywall — if an owner could not book a walk because they would not pay a subscription, you would lose the booking, and you are the customer.
Does the owner need this app too?
No. Owners use CorePaw, the free owner-facing app, and everything about you appears there only once they have a walker. There is no second business app for them to install, and no download is needed for them to be your client.
Invoices and payment
Can I create monthly invoices?
Yes. At month end, run the whole book at once: every client with unbilled completed work gets an invoice built from that work, with the walks and visits as line items. You are not rebuilding the month from a calendar and a group chat.
Can I invoice work the app never saw?
Yes. A manual invoice covers a nail trim, a bag of food, a key cutting fee or work you did before you installed anything. It still takes a number from the same sequence, so there is no gap left by billing something outside the app.
Are invoice numbers sequential?
Yes, with your own prefix, issued centrally so two devices invoicing at the same moment cannot produce the same number or skip one. An empty invoice can never take a number, and a numbered invoice cannot be emptied afterwards.
Does it support VAT?
Yes. Set your VAT number and rate and it is applied and shown on the invoice; leave them blank and nothing about VAT appears. Your UTR, business address, logo, payment terms and invoice footer work the same way — shown when filled in.
Which currencies are supported?
Twenty-seven, including sterling, euro, US and Canadian dollars, Australian and New Zealand dollars, Swiss francs and the Nordic and Central European currencies. The currency is stamped onto each invoice when it is issued, so changing yours later never rewrites what a past invoice claims to have charged.
Can I put my bank details or a payment link on invoices?
Yes — bank name, account name, sort code and account number, a PayPal address or PayPal.Me link, and any payment URL you like, typically a payment link from your own card provider. They print on every invoice.
Does CorePaw take a percentage of what my clients pay me?
No, and it never touches the money. The invoice is a document; your client pays you directly, into your account, by your link. There is no platform cut, no payout schedule and no third party sitting between you and your income.
Can I record cash and bank-transfer payments?
Yes. Mark an invoice paid by cash, bank transfer, PayPal, card or anything else, with the date. Outstanding, overdue, paid and void are all tracked, so "who hasn't paid me" is one screen rather than an evening.
Can it chase overdue invoices for me?
Yes, if you switch it on — it is off by default. Nothing is sent before the due date, then at most three polite reminders at least a week apart, and then it stops and leaves it to you. Chasing someone nightly is how a walker loses a client and their neighbour.
Privacy and data
Who owns the client relationship?
You do. CorePaw Pro is a tool you run your business with, not a marketplace that places clients. There is no directory bidding for your customers, no lead fee and no route by which another business is offered your round.
Can my staff see every client?
Only if you allow it. A restricted employee sees the jobs assigned to them and the clients those jobs belong to. Money, colleagues and everyone else's clients can all be kept out of reach, and the limits are enforced at the database level rather than by hiding buttons.
Where are permissions actually enforced?
In the database, in row-level security, on every read and write — not in the app's screens. That distinction matters: a rule enforced only in the interface is a rule that stops working the moment anything else asks the same question.
Can I change an owner's health records?
No. You add what you did — a dose given, a note, a photo, a walk — as new entries attributed to you. You cannot rewrite or erase the history an owner keeps about their own animal, and neither can anyone else in your business.
What happens if my subscription ends?
Your business, clients, bookings, walks and invoices are not deleted. Owners keep every walk and report in CorePaw regardless, because that history is theirs. If you decide to leave entirely, you can delete your account and its data outright.
How do I delete my account?
From inside the app, or by asking us. There is a route that does not require the app to be installed, and it removes your account and its data rather than merely hiding it. See the delete-account page for what is removed and what is kept for tax purposes.
